Christ Powered Radio Interview

CPR:  Tell us, who is Shem?
SHEM:  Shem is a young man who loves the Lord and is just tryna live one day at a time for Jesus. I am a lawyer and a missionary minded rapper… I would like to see guys come to know Jesus and be transformed by Him.

CPR:  Spreading the message of the cross, what drives you and how do you prepare yourself to represent it accurately?
SHEM:  My love for God is what spurs me on to do what I do. When we love God and choose to obey Him I find that He places in us the passion that He has to see guys come to know Him and be saved. Love for God and the love for others that He has placed in me is what makes me keep doing what I do
In terms of preparation to represent Christ, I have always felt that it’s vital to be well acquainted with the scriptures. It’s just like Flame says in His jam “Move” on his 5th album “Captured” (which I think is a classic by the way) he says “…get into the Word of God and get the Word of God in you…” and this in my perspective has a scriptural basis in 2nd Timothy 3:16-17 which goes like
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Yeah, so for me getting in the Word is how I get “thoroughly equipped” and prepared to represent the cross accurately. Effective and fervent prayer is also key cause in the words of James… “It avails much”.

CPR:  Marriage, the picture of Christ and the Church on earth, hehehe are you seeing someone?
SHEM:  Yep, I have a girlfriend. She’s very supportive in ministry and a great blessing to me. Marriage is a great thing and when the appointed time comes, Lord willing, watu watakula mchele… hehehe

CPR:  If you had the chance, what one thing would you change in the Kenyan Gospel scene as it is?
SHEM:  Sometimes I feel that we are not passionate about Christ’s mandate to preach the message of the cross as we are about other things. I’m not saying every artist is like this but the stuff we see in the media is not at all encouraging. My prayer is that God will rekindle the fire in our hearts for our entire ministry and service above all other destructing factors
